From 2017-2020 I developed two series of large-scaled multi-paneled drawings, "Summergarden – Wintergarden" and "Science – Fiction", works overlay the personal with the broader issues of science and the environment. The drawings conjoin disparate elements – biological, mechanical, and architectural, as well as text elements that include genetic code and journalistic notes on the local weather and gardening. I see the drawing process as an echo of both evolution and scientific inquiry, processes driven by trial and error. Just as the origins of an organism are reflected in its structure and embryonic development, my drawings reflect layers of mark, gesture and erasure as they evolve toward a moment of wholeness and resolution.
