The "Improbable" series are polychromed ceramic sculptures completed in 2016. The forms derive from drawings developed during 2014-15. It was my first year of gardening in the less-than-congenial climate of central New York, where despite the cool summer and short growing season, there was an abundance of life, both domestic and wild, plant and animal. In these sculptures I strove to capture the surprising energy, variety and color contained within the half acre or so between my house the creek that borders my property.
