“Field Notes”, a series of digital collages that evolved over several years, are a tribute to longtime friend and artist, Rinda Metz, who died in 2014. The images celebrate our many years of camping and bird watching on the barrier islands of the Atlantic coast, while also acknowledging the decline of both the coastal environment and the bird population over the course of those years. By interleaving text, map elements, and found images with drawing, photographs, written notes and fragments of personal letters, I sought to create a broader, more journalistic account of both our evolving personal relationship and our relationship with the natural world.
